Review on Bingham Riverhouse
The aptly named Bingham Riverhouse has a fabulous riverside location by the banks of the Thames in Richmond. Originally built as two Georgian houses, it is now a splendid boutique hotel with a rich history and an intriguing blend of vintage and contemporary fittings - not to mention a private terrace and landscaped grounds.
At the heart of the hotel is its opulent dining room - complete with chandeliers, gilt mirrors, drapes and river views, it makes a fine setting for modern British cuisine. Fixed-price menus and a tasting extravaganza make use of top-notch produce for a succession of intricate creations.
Typical offerings might include organic salmon with scallop tartare, ginger and sesame crust and passion fruit vinaigrette followed by salt marsh mutton with asparagus, crispy lamb breast, courgette and herb purée. For dessert try jasmine pannacotta with soft red fruits, hibiscus jelly and elderflower sorbet. Otherwise, explore the fascinating cheese counter, with its choice of British and French specimens served with caramelised quince compote.
