Review on Gaucho Richmond
Stroll along the Towpath to reach this seductively located branch of the Gaucho chain, which stands right by the water overlooking Richmond Bridge and Petersham meadows. A vast 130-cover terrace is the main attraction, although there's also plenty to enjoy inside.
Crowds come here for flame-grilled Argentinian steaks of every description, all fabulously flavoursome and tender, with appropriate side orders. Alternatively, go for crusted lamb cutlets milanese with rocket, artichokes, broad beans and Feta or grilled adobo chicken with garlic confit and potato purée.
To start the ball rolling there are salads and ceviches aplenty (the Ecuadorian version consists of marinated tiger prawns in a roasted tomato and lime sauce served with maize cancha); as a finale, check out the Latin American churros (sweet pastries) or the banana cake drizzled with prune-speckled passion fruit sauce.
The wine list offers one of most comprehensive collections of Argentinian wines in the UK. Gaucho has a burgeoning number of outlets across London, plus a branch in Manchester (for more details visit the company's website).
