Review on Petersham Nurseries Cafe
Petersham Nurseries Cafe is a very popular restaurant, which isn't surprising, it serves up amazing food with its outdoor atmosphere amid lush greenery and glasshouses and all within striking distance of Richmond, Ham and the Thames.
The cafe itself is basically a large converted greenhouse with wonky garden furniture and precious little in the way of décor – but who minds. Also, don't be fooled by the prosaic setting – there is seriously good food to be had here.
An aperitif of – say – Petersham Rose Bellini sets the tone for starters like spiced rabbit with speck, parsnip, skordalia and grumolo verde. Mains pick up the theme with the likes of guinea fowl with hazelnut crumbs lenticchie, cumin, spinach and creme fraiche. To finish, try Bakewell tart with lemon ice cream or Pavlova with lemon posset and English rhubarb. Wines are sourced from small estates that are typified by style and regionality.
