Review on Nakhon Thai
Nakhon Thai with its canopied straw huts and beautiful artefacts that help to create the mood in this swish Thai restaurant at Royal Victoria Dock, and the fun continues outside, where palm trees wave in the breeze and there are great views of the Thames gateway.
'Seasons of the Far East' is the theme of the extensive menu, which promises a full tour of Thailand's specialities, kicking off with appetisers like highly seasoned fishcakes with cucumber relish, steamed prawn and minced pork dumplings with sweet soy sauce and vegetarian rice-paper rolls.
Moving on, there are soups including classic tom yum goong, som tum salad with char-grilled marinated chicken and assorted curries including roast duck with pineapple, grapes and coconut sauce. Stir-fries, rice and noodles plus specialities like steamed sea bass fillet with ginger, spring onion and Thai soy sauce complete the picture. On Sundays, a casual brunch buffet is served from noon to 5pm. A sibling opened recently at 45 Westferry Road, Canary Wharf, E14.
