Review on St Brides Spa Hotel, Cliff Restaurant
A seaside hotel for the twenty-first century, St Brides not only boasts superb amenities (including an outdoor infinity pool) plus superb views over Saundersfoot harbour and the golden beaches of Carmarthen Bay, it is also gaining a reputation as an exclusive marine spa and dining destination.
As the name suggests, the Cliff Restaurant and Gallery Bar make the most of the fine views, and diners can look forward to modern cuisine with a good showing of seafood. King crab legs steamed with vermouth and herbs is a signature dish, but the menu also promises everything from sea bass on chickpea and coriander salad or red snapper on buttered leek couscous to pork fillet wrapped in Carmarthen ham with wholegrain mustard jus. The 400-bin wine cellar has a fine spread of bottles from the Old and New Worlds. Fabulous terraces are an added alfresco attraction in fine weather.
The hotel also runs the family-friendly Mermaid on the Strand Restaurant in the village, and the Marina contemporary chippie by the harbour.
