Review on Blostin's
Very little seems to change at Nick and Lynne Reed's modest restaurant just outside the town. Theirs is a modest enterprise with a handful of tables and Nick holding sway in the kitchen - just as he always has done.
He knows his customers and their preferences, and he follows a well-tried path, delivering sound French-inspired cooking without risks. His fixed-price dinner menu might open with salmon fishcakes or gazpacho. before breast of chicken with sweetcorn pancakes and creamy tarragon sauce, calf's liver and bacon, or honey-roast loin of pork with apples and cider brandy sauce.
Seasonal specialities such as loin of venison with braised red cabbage and game sauce add variety, and there's a separate menu for vegetarians. Desserts have included warm chocolate tart, and the 60-bin wine list provides a whistle-stop tour of the globe.
