Review on No 10 Restaurant
Mustapha Fassih spent many years cooking in London at places such as the Quality Chop House, before moving to Norfolk. After a long stint at the Last Wine Bar in Norwich, he set up with his family in Sheringham, and his new abode is a charming little spot, with big curving windows dominating the frontage, and a smart interior with artwork, a big fireplace and gilt mirrors.
Menus change every four weeks, and the emphasis is on Norfolk produce (anything from Morston mussels to asparagus). To start, duck confit might be served with beetroot dressing, while main courses could range from cod fillet with spring onion risotto and red pepper sauce or sea bass with roasted fennel, tomato and ginger to local steak with sauté potatoes.
Mustapha also turns his hand to native dishes from his Moroccan homeland - witness mackerel fillet with couscous and harissa dressing or authentic tagine, while desserts fly the Brit flag with rhubarb and ginger crème brûlée or chocolate tart.
Saturday brunch is popular with local shoppers and holidaymakers, and the restaurant is also open for morning coffee from 10 to midday, Wednesday to Saturday.
