Review on The Durham Ox
This traditional country inn has come a long way since the nineteenth century, when it served the needs of thirsty Warwickshire locals. Today, it is a fully fledged pub/restaurant with a flexible attitude and excellent facilities for families. Inside it still retains its exposed beams, oak floors and open fires, along with more contemporary design features. The pub also sports an outdoor terrace and extensive gardens (complete with a play area): barbecues and other special events are a feature of the place - weather permitting.
The seasonal menu aims to please all-comers with its choice of modern dishes and classic 'comfort food': typical offerings might include warm red onion tarte Tatin with goats' cheese, fillet of salmon with mussel and saffron chowder, and local faggots with Savoy cabbage and creamed potato. Desserts range from Eton Mess to chocolate spring roll with strawberries; mini versions can be ordered with coffee or tea at a special price.
