Review on Patara
The flagship London branch of the international Patara chain is a striking, upmarket venue that has been designed to resemble a traditional Thai pavilion, complete with chiselled sandstone walls, ornately carved palm wood columns and luxurious red seating. Clever ambient illumination comes from candles and spotlights, but the real focal point is a huge gold-tinted model of a Thai palace.
This is now one of the most accomplished Thai restaurants in London, offering food that is authentic, ambitious and innovative when it matters. Staples such as fishcakes, tom yung goong soup, red duck curry and pad Thai noodles are spot-on and the kitchen also delivers specialities like hot-and-sour shredded chicken and mango salad, black cod with yellow bean sauce, and sea bass in coconut leaves.
There are six other outlets in the capital located in Berners Street W1, Oxford Circus, Knightsbridge, South Kensington, Hampstead and Wimbledon.
Patara is also featured in: Michelin Guide, Hardens
