Review on Tapas Brindisa Soho
Having wowed the crowds in Borough Market for years, the folk at Tapas Brindisa have brought their wares and inspired Iberian style to Soho. Tierra follows broadly the same formula of dazzling authentic tapas and provisions married with likeably atmospheric decor and plenty of inviting, buzzy vibes. It's an intimate space overlooking the cobbles of Broadwick Street, with tables in the front room and a kitchen bar at the back for less formal grazing.
The open kitchen dispenses many of the old Brindisa classics - Padrón peppers, Catalan spinach with pine nuts and raisins, prawns in garlic, battered hake with allioli - along with trademark acorn-fed Ibérico charcuterie, speciality cheeses and a hearty cazuela of the day (perhaps Ibérico pork cheeks with butterbeans).
Also expect tapa plates of lentil stew with soft Tiétar goats' curd, carpaccio of cod with orange, quail escabeche with dried fruits, and grilled lamb cutlets with romesco sauce. Rustic breads fill any gaps, and you can close the show with classic chocolate turrón with pistachio ice cream, crema Catalana and other Spanish puddings. The wine list keeps faith with the region, and pays due attention to sherries and dessert tipples.
