Review on Rosie's Vineyard
Rosie's Vineyard, an iconic wine bar and bistro has been a bastion of Southsea's dining and music scene since 1982. It's laid out over three floors, featuring a wine cellar ideal for private parties, a mezzanine area and also a private conservatory and secret garden. Inside it eschews traditional trappings with simply laid wooden tables and chairs set on stripped wooden flooring. The atmosphere is cosy and upbeat, and it is worth checking out their live jazz sessions on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
The kitchen delivers a raft of tempting ideals ranging from grilled Lyme Bay scallops with chorizo and smoked chilli jam or potted duck with fig and apricot chutney amongst the starters. Main courses take in six hour lamb shoulder blossom honey, pinenuts served with sauté potatoes and caramelised aubergine or choose one of Rosie's classics such as moules frites, mussels served in an onion and garlic white wine sauce served with fries. When it comes to desserts you might see crème brulee served with homemade shortbread or a white and dark chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream.
Pop in for a glass of wine from the excellent cellar, a tasty cocktail or enjoy a leisurely meal while listening to the live music, the choice is yours.
