Review on Manor House Hotel, Stables Bar & Grill
An impressively converted seventeenth-century farmhouse is the setting for this custom-built modern hotel, which stands amid lush Cheshire countryside conveniently close to junction 16 of the M6 and only 10 miles from Stoke-on-Trent.
The Stables Bar & Grill occupies the original part of the building, and still has old fireplaces and beams to prove it. Flambéed dishes are something of a speciality (anything from steak Diane to crêpes Suzette), but the kitchen also sends out international dishes like rump of lamb niçoise, sautéed calf's liver with smoked pancetta mash and mixed bean cassoulet or roulade of salmon and lemon sole with chive and saffron sauce. The highlight of the week is Sunday lunch, when traditional roasts take pride of place on the menu.
