Review on Baraset Barn

A short drive out of Stratford, past the local golf club, this stylishly converted 300-year-old barn successfully blends historic features with flashes of contemporary design. Much of the interior now has a bright and breezy continental feel, complete with a luxurious lounge area and a patio garden for alfresco drinks and food.

The kitchen looks far and wide for ingredients and ideas, procuring meat from local farms, herbs from France and much more besides. Sharing plates of mezze and the like are perfect for grazing, or you can pick from a menu that runs through smoked haddock and spinach risotto, crispy Asian duck salad and devilled kidneys on toast to spit-roast duck, braised blade of beef and homemade Baraset burgers. Also look for the 28-day aged steaks and chateaubriand. Plenty of global wines by the glass and a range of well-kept beers satisfy the drinkers.

    Special Occasion

    I have been to this restaurant many many times before ( we had booked this table for a special occasion)
    But on this occasion it was very very disappointing as soon as we got there ,there was no welcome just “we need the table back by 8.15 “ (this was a manager by the way) straight away this spoil the evening you do not pay that sort of money to be asked to rush.. we was asked to take a seat in the conservatory area while he’d found out what table we was on ( now they was rushing us remember) about 10 mins later we were taken to our table ( the restaurant was quiet quite so what took 10 mins or more to show us to our table that was pre booked) while waiting for starter I went to toilet on way back to my table i informed a member of staff (female) that the ladies toilet had no toilet paper left. The starter was good the main meal was very disappointing the rib-eye steak was not of usual quality & not cooked to how I had ordered it the fries was full of oil & because they wanted the table back by 8.15 we did not have time for dessert & asked if we could have our coffee in conservatory area because of them needing the table back ( yet the restaurant was still fairly quiet ) we had our coffee & paid. Before leaving I wanted to stop at the toilet this is now about 8.30 to find the ladies downstairs toilet still had no been replenished with any toilet paper I was discussed & quietly informed the manager who very badly shout to one of the bar staff/ waitress to get me some toilet paper “ which I found a very unacceptable way of dealing with the matter ( the table nearest the bar above in the restaurant all turned & looked ) .. which I then replied if it that inconvenient to replenish the toilets & I told him I had earlier reported it to a female member of staff who said she would see to it ( which she clearly did NOT... by now this manager had upset I said I would wait until I get home I got no apology & my special occasion was a complete disappointment . On 3 occasion at this visit the manager was rude & completely spoiled my special occasion & will never forget how bad the visit was at BARASET BARN to what used to be my favourite restaurant.
