Mint and Mustard in Taunton is the younger sibling of the successful Cardiff modern Indian restaurant that has picked up numerous awards, including a coveted Bib Gourmand from the 2012 Michelin Guide. Situated on the busy Taunton Station Road, a short stroll from the River Tone the restaurant has a smart contemporary décor.
The kitchen employs high quality ingredients and exclusive spices, presenting modern dishes through precise and innovative preparation and cooking. You might begin with Murg Tikka, a trio of chicken morsels infused in a marinade of basil, star anise and red chillies or Nandu, crispy soft shell crab dusted with curry leaves and garlic, served with avocado and bell pepper salad. Main courses offer the Chef's signature dish fresh sea bass, pan seared, served on a bed of curry leaf infused mashed potato in a tongue tickling raw mango, ginger and coconut sauce or a succulent lamb shank, very tender slow cooked served with potatoes stuffed with cottage cheese and presented in an intensely flavoured sauce reduction. Desserts are a delicious mix of flavours with Chocomosa, chocolate ganache and almond flakes filled samosas, caramelized banana and vanilla ice cream or Rose Brulee, a twist to the classic creme brulee with a subtle rose flavour, topped with rose petals.
