Review on The Ormond at Tetbury
The Ormond at Tetbury is a smart 17th century Cotswold inn located in the centre of town offering stylish rooms and award winning cuisine. The elegant restaurant is ideally suited for business lunches during the day, whilst at night illuminated with flickering candles it has a more romantic ambience. You can also eat in the newly refurbished bar, as well as the courtyard for al fresco dining during the summer.
Seasonal menus offering ingredients of the highest quality and known provenance are created by the kitchen under the guidance of Head Chef Mariusz Przeworski. Typically you might begin with tiger prawns in cider batter with chilli jam, lime crème fraiche and watercress salad or home cured, smoked duck salad with watercress, orange, hazelnuts and honey dressing. Follow on with a main course of smoked paprika roast rump of lamb with potato, fennel, olive and chorizo Catalan stew or sea bream with spring onion hash, spinach, crab beignet and citrus vinaigrette. To finish there are tempting desserts such as dark chocolate and peanut butter parfait with raspberry coulis and toasted marshmallow, or maybe the West Country artisan cheeseboard with grape and brandy chutney and celery is more to your taste.
The wine list offers a good selection of champagnes and wines from all of the major wine-making countries.
