Review on Lake Isle Hotel & Restaurant
To gain entrance to the restaurant in this attractive eighteenth-century town house (especially in the evening) you need to penetrate the attractive floral displays in the courtyard at the back of the building.
Lunch is a relatively straightforward affair, with simple dishes along the lines of tagliatelle with mushroom and tarragon sauce, char-grilled loin of tuna niçoise and sirloin steak with Stilton butter.
Dinner is more ambitious. You might kick off with home-soused sardines with cucumber and citrus dressing before moving on to roast fillet of monkfish with braised fennel, tomato and green peppercorn sauce or herb-crusted chump of spring lamb with Provençal vegetables and olive jus. Round things off with, say, iced strawberry soufflé or summer pudding with Cornish clotted cream.
Lake Isle has a highly impressive, worldwide wine list of more than 200 bins, and special Wine Dinners are held throughout the year so that guests can explore and appreciate its unique cellar.
