Review on The Cat Inn
After a number of years at the helm of nearby Gravetye Manor, Andrew Russell upped sticks and took over a nearby pub called The Cat Inn at West Hoathly, a picturesque village half way between East Grinstead and Haywards Heath. All the skills required to run a top notch Country house hotel and restaurant, Andrew has poured into this immaculate pub restaurant which also has four delightful bedrooms. Inglenook fireplaces and oak beams abound and create a warm ambience while glasses at the bar are polished to perfection, ready to receive local hand drawn ales or perhaps one of the many wines available by the glass.
Alex Jacquemin heads up the kitchen team and menus follow the seasons with fresh ingredients being sourced from local producers and include rare breed pigs and Dexter cattle, cheese from a local family run dairy and vegetables grown less than a mile and a half away. Menus are supported by blackboard daily specials and offer excellent pub food for example, locally smoked ham, eggs and chips, organic salmon fillet with brown shrimp Hollandaise, steak, mushroom & ale pie as well as puddings, all homemade like mixed berry Eton mess or vanilla panna cotta with poached rhubarb.
The Cat Inn is also featured in: Michelin Guide, Good Food Guide, AA Guide
