Review on Meejana
Meejana started as a bespoke 'Food & Wine Boutique' 10 years ago selling specialist epicure from around the world to the people of Weybridge and beyond. Since then, Meejana has continually evolved and is now exclusively a full-fledged Lebanese restaurant serving authentic Lebanese cooking for lunch and dinner, as well as take away and catering. There's also now a beautifully inlaid mosaic bar where you can sip a cocktail or two before dinner.
The long list of hot and cold mezze is the main attraction, and the kitchen produces fine versions of classics like hummus, moutabbal, tabbouleh and lamb kibbeh, alongside more unusual items such as dafadeh (frogs legs), lisanaat (lamb tongue) and sabeedish (squid with mixed peppers, spring onions and parsley). The main courses include grilled sea bass with tagine sauce and rice, traditional grilled meats, an extensive array of yakhnes (home style dishes) from the owners family, and plenty of vegetarian options (taro root with spinach and spices for example). And the team are always on hand to guide you through the choices.
The wine list is a knowledgeable selection of bottles from some of the world's most illustrious producers, large and small; don't miss the Lebanese wines, especially Château Heritage and Château Marsyas. During the day, you can also drop into the informal environment for luxury loose-leafed teas, Lebanese wraps, sticky treats and much more besides.
