Review on Macdonald Kilhey Court, Laureate Restaurant
A stunning Victorian edifice in the hearty of the Lancashire countryside, but with easy access to the M6 and the M61, Kilhey Court is ideally suited to grand bashes and small-scale intimate celebrations. It also has the bonus of exclusive leisure facilities and stunning views of the Worthington Lakes.
Fine dining takes place in the Laureate Restaurant, a spacious split-level, conservatory-style dining room with its own water feature and a great outlook. The kitchen tries to tick all the boxes when it comes to local produce, organic supplies and sustainable fish, and menus aim to follow the seasons.
Typical offerings from the regularly updated repertoire might include cured Loch Fyne salmon with Morecambe Bay shrimp and honey mustard dressing, milk-fed veal cutlet with celeriac fondant and piquant sage sauce, and herb-roasted monkfish with tomato and basil relish, mussels and chorizo risotto. To conclude, perhaps egg custard and nutmeg tart or poached pears with heather honey and caramel parfait.
