Review on The Queensbury
Not a revitalised boozer, but the conversion of a Conservative Club snooker room done out with red banquettes, wooden floors and chandeliers, the Queensbury brings the gastro pub genre to Willesden Green - replacing cues with cutlery along the way.
On the full restaurant menu you will find a line-up of modern European dishes along the lines of foie gras terrine with red onion compote and toasted brioche, poached haddock with colcannon, white wine and mustard sauce, and marinated breast of chicken on bulgar wheat 'risotto' with aubergine caviar. To conclude, there are straightforward desserts such as chocolate tart with white chocolate ice cream.
Brunch is served at weekends (11.00 - 2.30pm) and there's a separate 'al fresco menu' built around Mediterranean grazing plates, burgers and the house speciality - jerk chicken with rice, peas and avocado. The short wine list promises interesting drinking from around the globe.
