Review on Galloway's Restaurant
Collections of sporting memorabilia and celebrity photographs are a reminder that Galloway's is a firm favourite with the golfing set. It occupies a red-brick, Grade II-listed building dating back to the seventeenth century, within easy reach of Woburn's internationally renowned course, safari park and historic abbey.
Inside, its original fireplaces, floors and exposed brickwork have been meticulously restored, while for over 15 years the same owners David and Chantelle Hay, ensure that a pleasingly relaxed atmosphere prevails. Their passion for quality and attentiveness shines through, so much so that the regional 'Foodie Square Guide' awarded them 'Best Restaurant 2009'.
Daily specials such as fillets of sea bass with saffron sauce bolster a regular menu that offers everything from South African 'bobotie' (savoury minced beef topped with an egg custard) accompanied by Mrs Ball's chutney or stir-fried duck with mixed vegetables and noodles to warm chorizo and bacon salad and rack of lamb with mash and rosemary jus.
Crème brûlée, chocolate mousse with raspberry compote and sticky toffee pudding are typical desserts. Every week there's also a highly popular 'Pasta and Steak Extravaganza'.
