Review on Bridge Street Lounge & Grill
A once-aging local boozer in the Norman village of Writtle (a couple of miles from Chelmsford) has been stylishly transformed into the Bridge Street Lounge & Grill - a flashy in-tune venue that combines a restaurant and a piano bar offering regular live music sessions.
Inside, the restaurant has been totally transformed, with wood floors, potted greenery and shimmering green wallpaper. It makes a chic setting for food with a modern European accent. To begin, you might fancy pan-fried scallops with pea purée and mint vinaigrette or seared pigeon breast with William pear and Dolcelatte. Fish is also a strong contender when it comes to main courses (try grilled fillet of Atlantic halibut with asparagus velouté and cockles), along with prime meat - perhaps 28-day aged Castle of Mey sirloin with oyster mushrooms, Dijon mustard sauce and crispy onion rings.
