Review on Widder Restaurant
In a tranquil neighbourhood in the historic quarter of Zürich you will find The Widder Restaurant by Alexander Kroll, set in the unique Widder Hotel, designed by the award-winning architect Tilla Theus. Originally nine historical townhouses, many dating back to the Middle Ages, they were transformed over a number of years to the remarkable building you see today. Taste and elegance are the emblems of this restaurant which has been awarded 15 points by the prestigious Gault Millau guide and is also included in the renowned Michelin Guide.
Alexander Kroll previously worked for Schumi & Co. as Executive Chef at Formula 1 in Monaco, but now he serves up his aromatic dishes in the elegant surroundings of the Widder Hotel. To complement the new with the established is Kroll's motto, and his philosophy is to go back to the basic roots of Swiss cooking, yet he refines this by mixing in influences from Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. There is a speciality menu featuring a selection of original and popular international dishes, using only the finest ingredients, as well as exceptional vegetarian dishes. There is a pedigree wine list with the finest wines of the region and classic wines from around the globe.
