Review on The Feathers
The Feathers is a smart country pub situated in the affluent town of Rickmansworth, five miles east of Watford in Hertfordshire. Over five hundred years old this lovely venue is full of character with dark wood beams, flagstone floors and cosy open fires in winter. There's an interesting layout of nooks and crannies featuring bare wooden furniture, tables laid with candles and a central bar with stools.
To start the kitchen might offer pan-roasted smoked mackerel fillet, potato and celeriac salad with rhubarb dressing or duck rillette, slow cooked Aylesbury duck served with fresh fruit chutney and garlic crostini. Main courses offer dishes in the shape of sea bass fillets paired with potato dumplings, wilted spinach, orange and fennel shavings or Welsh four bone rack of lamb, crushed new potatoes, fine green beans and red wine jus. To finish enjoy traditional desserts like steamed treacle pudding smothered in custard or sticky toffee pudding soaked in toffee sauce accompanied by Cornish ice cream.
There's a well chosen wine list to accompany the menu, friendly service and The Feathers also hosts popular live music events.
