Review on Lunya
Multi-award winning Catalan restaurant Lunya and crowned restaurant of the year for the North West by Waitrose Good Food Guide 2015, opened its doors in March 2010 in Liverpool One's shopping, residential and leisure complex. It's the brainchild of former management consultant Peter Kinsella, whose passion for Catalan food was born during his time spent working in Barcelona. In October 2017 the restaurant moved to bigger premises on the corner of College Lane and Hanover Street, opposite Radio Merseyside. Lunya also has a fantastic Spanish deli, offering the finest artisan produce from across Cataluña and Spain.
The menu is a wide-ranging, all-day affair spanning early morning breakfast, lunch, evening meals and everything in between. Seasonal ingredients are carefully sourced locally, as well as from trusted Spanish suppliers creating a delicious a la carte menu alongside an extensive selection of tapas. Enjoy dishes in the shape of chorizo sautéed in white wine with fennel seeds; beef steak pinchos with roasted Piquillo pepper hummous or from the sea choose mussels steamed in a Manzanilla and tomato broth or maybe Bacalao, deep fried, battered cod with crushed peas. On Sundays diners can feast on their popular roast dinner of suckling pig from Segovia, but it must be booked one week in advance.
To accompany the food there's over 130 great Spanish wines to choose from, as well as a tasty cocktail menu. Friday and Saturday nights, Lunya's resident musicians play beautiful Spanish music during your meal and look out for their special monthly gourmet food and wine nights.
