Review on The Punchbowl Lapworth
In the picturesque village of Lapworth surrounded by the wonderful Warwickshire countryside, The Punchbowl is a popular English pub and restaurant, just minutes from the NEC Solihull and eight miles from the magnificent Warwick Castle. Situated on the corner of Mill Lane, the interiors have been impressively revamped with a pleasing mix of traditional and contemporary style, sporting a real log fire and original oak beams. The dining room is set with bare wooden furniture, upholstered chairs and banquette seating, with walls displaying pretty ornate mirrors. Enjoy a pre or post dinner drink in the very stylish bar area, where you can relax on their comfy sofas, or during summer months sit in their inviting garden.
The kitchen is serious about procuring first-class seasonal ingredients from the very best local suppliers. Kick off with a starter of salt and pepper squid, oriental slaw, pickled ginger, wasabi mayonnaise and lemon oil or smoked duck, new potato remoulade, dressed watercress and balsamic glaze. Follow on with main courses such as saddle of rabbit, spinach, black pudding, Parma ham, butternut puree, boulangere potato, baby carrots, and jus or hand battered haddock, minted mushy peas, chunky tartar sauce, and hand cut chips. To finish enjoy a dark chocolate tart paired with orange Chantilly cream and candied walnuts or strawberries and cream baked Alaska, lemon sponge, Italian meringue and mixed berry coulis.
Accompanying the menu is a wine list offering an international slate featuring a good spread from across the world.
