Review on Rick Stein Porthleven
Formerly home to the Clay Quay restaurant, Rick Stein has added to his expanding portfolio in Cornwall with the opening of his latest offering in the fishing village of Porthleven, which lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Located harbourside in a lovely historic white-washed building, that was once the first depot in Cornwall for loading ships with china clay, it now has bright modern interiors.
The menu offers sharing plates of local and seasonal produce inspired by Rick's travels around the globe. Diners can expect dishes in the shape of grilled scallops with hazelnut and coriander butter or Pad Thai noodles with prawns. If you don't want to go the sharing plate route, there are main courses such as Singapore chilli crab, stir-fried whole crab with garlic, ginger, chilli and coriander or for carnivores enjoy a juicy rib eye steak from Warrens butchers in Launceston, served with bone marrow gravy.
