Review on Mint & Mustard
Mint & Mustard in the upmarket town of Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan is part of a small group of award winning Indian restaurants, with siblings in Cardiff, Taunton and Weston-super-Mare. Located on the corner of Plassey Street and Accot Street in the former premises of the Golden Ochid, the intimate restaurant features a contemporary décor with a relaxed and welcoming ambience.
The kitchen employs high quality ingredients and exclusive spices, showcasing modern cuisine through precise and innovative preparation and cooking. Dishes show an eye for creativity, with starters in the shape of crab malabar, soft shell crab marinated with the Chef's exclusive masala and deep fried with special salad or lamb pallipallyam, a popular village-style lamb dish with aromatic spices. Main courses follow with prawn and squid ularthiyadu, fresh shrimps and calamari tossed in spicy shallots, kashmiri red chillies, ginger and tomato masala finished with coconut milk, or kuttanadan duck, cooked with aloo, fresh coconut and coriander paste. Make sure you leave room for one of Mint & Mustard's delicious desserts.
