Review on Pedler
Pedler is a vibrant neighbourhood restaurant that opened towards the end of 2014, sibling to the the south-London distillery Little Bird Gin, it is located in what is fast becoming a foodie destination in the southeast London town of Peckham. This charming venture is run by local residents Tim Moore and Taskin Muzaffer featuring exposed brickwork, wooden flooring and pineapple cushion topped bar stools. It's a homely affair with vintage mismatched crockery, colourful armchairs, closely packed tables and beautiful pendant bone china lights of various salad items, created by a Walworth-based artist.
Cooking is built around top-quality raw materials and suppliers are given a name check on their website including, Allen's of Mayfair, one of London's oldest butchers, Valley Smoke House who supply bacon, smoked salmon and other smoked meats to the UK's top restaurants and Essex Flour & Grain, an independent family run firm who supply dry good, catering foods and drinks.
Typical dishes on the daily changing menu include grilled calves liver, kale rosti, sherry gravy or from the sea there's baked plaice, king cabbage, together with their own salad cream or another popular choice is their signature frizzle chicken, polenta, parmesan and attitude sauce. For afters, enjoy valrhona choccy mousse and white chocolate sauce or maybe pink grapefruit bread and butter pud paired with vanilla ice cream.
The wine list has a good choice of quaffable stuff at realistic prices, most available by the glass, together with craft ales and zingy cocktails from Little Bird Gin.
