Review on Salt and Malt

The team behind the nearby Michelin-starred Pony & Trap have launched a second venture, a Tearoom and Fish Café called the Salt and Malt. An enviable waterside location, complete with lovely views over the picturesque Chew Valley Lake, it certainly attracts the crowds. A white and pale grey décor forms the backdrop to this nautical styled restaurant, there's large windows to take in the views and flood the interior with natural light. Dark blue banquette seating is a nice contrast, set with pretty light blue chequered throw cushions and tables tops featuring Italian marble.

Everything is handmade on site with ingredients meticulously sourced and fish delivered daily from Cornwall. Open from breakfast, through to lunch and dinner, main courses consist of dishes such as fish and chips with house tartare sauce and crushed garden peas or whole tail scampi, peas and chips. Other options are Ploughmans or bangers, bubble and squeak with onion gravy as well as sandwiches, quiches, delicious cakes and ice cream.

Salt and Malt is also featured in: Michelin Guide, Hardens
