Review on Iberica Manchester
The well regarded Spanish group Iberica have opened their first branch outside of London, on the prestigious The Avenue, Spinningfields in the heart of Manchester. Occupying the corner site of the former clothing brand All Saints, it is an impressive building with a vast glass façade. Inside the decor is equally stunning, created by Barcelona-based interior designer Lázaro Rosa Violán in a palette of rich reds and gold, with luxurious leather seating and smart wood furniture. A large bar takes centre stage on the ground floor, with a feature wall of wine, while the main dining room is situated on the mezzanine level, which also houses the open kitchen. During summer months guests can enjoy al fresco dining on the two outside terraces, situated at either side of the main entrance to the restaurant.
Three starred Michelin Executive Chef Nacho Manzano has created a unique à la carte menu for Iberica Manchester, which includes a selection of main dishes alongside his signature tapas. To go the tapas route you can graze on dishes such as chicken with chilindrón sauce and rosemary potatoes or from the sea there's creamy black rice with squid, prawns and alioli sauce. Main course options include sea trout with almond puree, pickled cauliflower and smoked olive oil or crispy confit of D.O. Segovia's suckling pig, apple puree and frisée salad.
There is an extensive menu of regional wines as well as Spanish beers and their delicatessen offers an impressive array of Spanish products.
