Review on Busaba Eathai
The twelfth branch of Busaba Eathai opened at the O2 on the Greenwich peninsula in South East London, part of an ever expanding group of authentic canteen-style Thai eateries, originally set up by restaurant impresario Alan Yau until he sold them in January 2010. New owners have continued their winning formula of shared tables, bench seating, modish design and a menu that won't challenge your bank balance. A tranquil water feature filled with floating candles and Gerbera flowers is situated at the entrance to the restaurant, while a bronzed Budda takes centre stage in the dining room.
Noodles, salads and curries are big sellers from a wide-ranging menu that moves beyond the familiar run of Thai standards. Check out pomelo salad with water chestnuts and chilli, chicken liver stir-fry with lemongrass and tamarind, phad kweito noodles with smoked chicken, and aromatic butternut squash curry with cucumber relish. Drink beer, tea or one of the fragrant hot drinks.
