Review on Maze Grill Park Walk
Gordon Ramsey has opened a second Maze Grill, sibling to his established Mayfair venue, this time in leafy Park Walk, Chelsea on the former Aubergine site, where his creativity and craftsmanship earned him a Michelin star in 2005. Open all day, this relaxed neighbourhood restaurant takes inspiration from the grill rooms of Manhattan, but with a distinctive British vibe. Lime green banquette seating runs the length of the room with dark, Scandinavian-style carver chairs set against gold rimmed tables, topped with Carrera marble. Exposed brick walls and an eclectic selection of artwork from the local Little Black Gallery adds interest. When the sun shines diners will be able to take advantage of pavement tables under the restaurant's awning.
The kitchen will offer the Maze Grill's signature rare breed steaks, fish and poultry prepared on the Josper Grill, alongside an extensive selection of sushi and sashimi from the dedicated raw bar with counter seating. There is also a daily selection of dry aged, primed beef cuts sourced from artisan suppliers, matured in house in their Himalayan Salt Block ageing cabinets. Elsewhere on the menu there's small plates, ideal for sharing in the shape of Buffalo chicken fillets, chilli and lime or Tuna devilled eggs, dill and nori. For a sweet-toothed finale enjoy chocolate cake with crème fraîche or strawberry and brown sugar Eton mess.
There's an extensive wine list to complement the dishes together with ciders, craft beers and a well-crafted collection of cocktails.
