Acclaimed Spanish Chef José Pizarro has opened his first city restaurant in the newly developed Broadgate Circle, near Liverpool Street, the third instalment following the success of his two tapas restaurants in Bermondsey. Before setting out on his own, Pizarro climbed the culinary ladder at established restaurants such as Eyre Brothers and Gaudi, and was the co-founder and Executive chef of Tapas Brindas.

The venue has floor to ceiling windows to take in the views, with an outdoor terrace for al fresco dining during the warmer weather. Decked out in a palette of pale greyish-blue, it has a stylish décor with a relaxed ambience and is proving to be a popular destination with the local office workers. Perch on the high stools set against the marble topped bar and take in all the action of the bustling open kitchen. Elsewhere, there's brass coloured table tops and part-upholstered chairs, as well as a central raised communal refectory style table for larger groups.

José Pizarro is open all day, kicking off with breakfast and working its way through to lunch, dinner and light snacks. The menu is designed for sharing and includes small and large plates, showcasing a modern take on classic Spanish dishes using the finest seasonal ingredients sourced from Spain and the UK. Enjoy tasty offerings along the lines of spicy prawn fritters with alioli; marinated octopus with JP pimentón dressing; confit duck leg, pan-fried red cabbage, golden raisins and PX vinegar; selection of Ibérico charcuterie, toasted bread and olive oil and fried Monte Enebro goat's cheese, orange blossom honey. For a sweet-toothed finale there's warm apple tart and vanilla ice cream or rice pudding.

The restaurant has an extensive wine list that focuses on Spanish wines, sherries, cavas and Spanish style gin tónicas and Spanish vermút.
