Review on Marco's New York Italian - Sheffield
Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White looked to the city of Sheffield for the opening of another restaurant under his brand of Marco's New York Italian, a relaxed family style eatery offering traditional Italian classics with a modern twist and New York influences. Launched in partnership with the contemporary Hampton by Hilton. a former police station dating from the 1960's, just a short drive from the city and five miles from the M1 motorway, it's located adjacent to the hotel.
The stylish dining room boasts a large bar space opposite smartly laid tables set against cream leather chairs, as well as some cosy half circular booths featuring red leather banquette seating. During summer months diners can take advantage of their lovely canopied al fresco dining area.
Local ingredients are judiciously employed for Marco's New York Italian menu with starters in the shape of chargrilled chicken wings paired with hickory BBQ sauce or crab cakes with tomato and chilli salsa. Elsewhere on the menu you can enjoy salads, pizza, pasta and risotto, steaks, burgers, hot dogs and ribs. Other options worth considering are dishes like lamb rump, Italian beans, rosemary and garlic new potatoes or oven roasted organic salmon with gnocchi, peas, rocket and basil. To finish who could resist the chocolate sundae with Swiss dark and white chocolate, honeycomb ice cream, brownies and chocolate sauce or melting chocolate truffle cake with vanilla ice cream.
