Review on Tredwell's
Tredwell's is the latest eatery from Michelin-starred chef Marcus Waring, located in the heart of the West End's Seven Dials, just minutes from Leicester Square tube station, it's handily placed for theatre-goers. Spread out over three floors with a basement cocktail bar, ground floor and mezzanine dining rooms, the restaurant takes its name from the butler in Agatha Christie's novel The Seven Dials Mystery. Designed by Robert Angell, the smart interiors pay homage to the venues history as an old ground for horse trading and later motor cars, featuring racing green banquette seating, vintage tiling, interior brick walls and lots of mirrors.
The proud London winner of the AA's 2015 Restaurant of the Year, the kitchen showcases modern British dishes with a more informal approach to the fine dining restaurants of Marcus at The Berkeley and The Gilbert Scott. Expect the likes of braised oxtail raviolo, celeriac and baked potato mousse or Brixham crab, pear, parmesan and chestnut. Main courses embrace slow cooked sea bream, Jerusalem artichoke, baked lemon and cavolo nero or you could opt for Lake District 35 days dry aged ribeye with peppercorn sauce from the charcoal grill. Proceedings conclude in style with Valrhona Caraibe chocolate, blood orange curd and negroni créme or buttermilk panna cotta, Yorkshire rhubarb and thyme crumble.
Backing up the food are zingy cocktails, craft beers and a knowledgeably garnered wine list from all corners of the world.
