Review on Yorebridge House
Yorebridge House, a restaurant with rooms makes the most of its enviable setting by the banks of the River Ure, situated on the outskirts of the unspoilt village of Bainbridge, surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Dales National Park. The stunning Grade II listed building once the Head Master's House can trace its history back to 1850 and has been lovingly and sympathetically restored to a luxurious retreat by the current owners, Dave and Charlotte Reilly.
The dining room is a light and airy space flooded with natural light from the windows and skylights. Smart contemporary chairs are set against polished wood tables and the room is adorned with gilt framed mirrors and wall lights. It is a lovely and romantic backdrop for chef Daniel Shotton's exquisite food, which has received a number of awards including three prestigious AA Rosettes.
Local produce is woven through an innovative menu and appears on the plate as highly accomplished and competent cooking. Seasonal menus offer starters such as Swinton Estate deer carpaccio, tartare, compressed pear and chocolate or from the sea Whitby crab, brown crab, espuma, kholrabi and sorrel. Equally inviting ideas abound with a main course of North Sea halibut, baby leeks, chicken wing and truffle or Driffield duck, heritage beetroot, boulangere and chicory. To close the show there's lemon parfait, white chocolate, yoghurt and honey comb or a dark chocolate dome, chocolate soil and mandarin.
The award winning wine list brings together some great wines from around the globe, with some lovely options available by the glass. Yorebridge House has 12 uniquely styled bedrooms inspired by the Reilly's travels, should you wish to extend your stay and explore the local area.
