Review on Appetite Palma
Voted one of the top 101 restaurants in Mallorca in 2016, Appetite is set on bustling Calle Sant Magi in the vibrant neighbourhood of Santa Catalina, home to the oldest municipal city market in Palma de Mallorca. The restaurant originated in Valencia where it resided for six years before Singapore-born chef Bonnie, together with co-owner Arantxa decided to relocate it to Mallorca in April 2014.
Inside the dining room is a homely affair, large pendant metal lampshades hang over simple wooden tables and colourful painted wooden chairs. Walls are decorated with round wooden-framed mirrors and a large clock, while the semi-open kitchen to the rear of the restaurant provides diners with views of all the action of the chefs at work.
The menu takes inspiration from Pan-Asian street food with a focus on first-class local and organic produce. The menu is divided into small, fresh, and main plates such as crisp Szechuan calamari and mango aioli and Korean roast lamb, kimchee mayo and steam buns. Other options worth considering would be the fresh lobster noodles, Thai basil, cherry tomatoes and garlic confit or the Malaysian chicken curry and roti.
The wine list has been chosen to complement the dishes, there's Thai beers and a creative cocktail list.
