Review on La Mémé
La Mémé is situated on Avenida del Comte de Sallent, part of Palma's inner ring road, and a short walk from the train and bus stations in Plaça d'Espanya. Owners Tomeu and Antonia took inspiration for their charming restaurant from the warmth of the kitchens of their grandmothers, creating a welcoming and cosy space. Featuring a chic contemporary décor, it's decked out in neutral colours with smart chairs and banquette seating, together with high shelves lined with bottles of wine.
The kitchen focuses on local ingredients for a daily changing three course menu which offers good value alongside a la carte options, and a six course tasting menu. Typical dishes that appear on the carte include starters in the shape of roasted octopus with flambé vegetables or maybe foie micuit duck with vanilla papaya tartar and apricot jam. When it comes to main courses there's homemade ravioli with goat cheese, pear and caramelized onion, or from the sea cod with aioli of green apple or meat fans will enjoy sirloin steak with teriyaki vegetables. Prettily presented desserts appear as crème brûlé served with passion fruit or you may prefer the cheesecake.
Service by the smartly attired waiters is both friendly and knowledgeable and there's a good selection of wines to accompany the food.
