Review on Opio Bar & Restaurant at Puro Hotel
Opio is the signature bar and restaurant set within the contemporary design Puro Hotel, housed within a restored XVIII century palace in the old town of Palma de Mallorca, just a short walk from the bustling shops on Jaume III Avenue and the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma. The dining room looks eminently chic with a modern décor of cool colours and large canvases of striking artwork adorning the walls. The bar is a hotspot during summer months, when guests can spill out onto the patios whilst listening to music from some of the best DJ's.
The kitchen under the leadership of Executive Chef Leon Altamirano presents a menu showcasing a fusion of Mediterranean and Asian dishes with South American influences. There's an emphasis on small plates, ideal for sharing with a focus on ultra-fresh seafood. Scallops and prawns ceviche, marinated in sweet chilli sauce, pomegranate and mango or maybe tiger prawns tempura served with crême fraîche dips and sriracha. Those who prefer meat can opt for the Angus mini burger with bacon jalapeños, tomatoes and Japanese mayonnaise followed by a main course of glazed Sichuan lamb, five Chinese spices, soya, honey, chilli and sautéed beans. To finish there's white chocolate cheesecake with red fruits and chocolate chips or a seasonal fruit platter.
Service is friendly and efficient and the Spanish wine list also has a few global and Mallorcan wines, together with Puro's own label.
