Review on The Real Greek
The Real Greek restaurant group added to their portfolio with the opening of a further branch within the famous Westfield Shopping Centre. Just ten minutes walk from White City tube station it's located on the Southern terrace, a light and airy space with floor-to-ceiling windows. A relaxed venue featuring pretty blue and white tiled walls and dark wood polished wood tables, with the added bonus of outdoor seating when the the weather is warm. Like its siblings, this branch of the Real Greek deals in genuine family-friendly food, skewered souvlaki wrapped in sheaths of warm grilled bread are one of the main attractions, and the choice varies seasonally (pork from November to May, lamb, chicken and vegetables at other times of the year).
Mezedes are also perennial favourites, especially at lunchtime: look for little dolmades, salt cod fritters, Feta 'from the barrel' and gigandes plaki (oven-baked Kastorian giant beans in tomato and herb sauce). Desserts are equally inviting with a traditional homemade Greek Baklava, crisp filo pastry with walnut and honey or a Greek sundae, luxury vanilla and pistachio ice cream served with nuts and seeds, finished with a creamy caramel sauce and whipped cream. Drink Greek beer, an ouzo-spiked cocktail or one of the down-home native wines.
