Review on La Dame de Pic London
La Dame de Pic one of the most hotly-anticipated restaurant openings of 2017 is located on the ground floor of the new Four Seasons Hotel at Ten Trinity Square. A magnificent historical Grade II listed building, formerly the 1922 headquarters of the Port of London Authority with a façade featuring Corinthian columns and a large allegorical statue of Father Thames, it overlooks the River Thames at Tower Hill.
The restaurant is the first London outpost from highly regarded chef Anne-Sophie Pic, the only woman to hold three Michelin stars in France with her Maison Pic in Valence. She is also the holder of one star for Dame de Pic in Paris and two stars for Anne-Sophie Pic in Switzerland. Her latest venture has been designed by Bruno Moinard and Claire Betaille of Paris-based architects 4BI Associates, a beautifully orchestrated room with bevelled mirror-clad pillars and sumptuous curved leather banquettes. The restaurant has it's own access from the street or through the stunning bar area with a dazzling domed ceiling.
Anne-Sophie has appointed Luca Piscazzi to lead the kitchen and together they present highly impassioned modern French food, defined by great ingredients, impressive skill and direct flavours. As a curtain raiser order Scottish langoustines seared in shellfish butter with heirloom carrots bouillon infused with pine tree and geranium rosat or beetroot and Bourbon Pointu coffee baked in a salt crust with foam and barberry. Main courses pick on up Brittany pigeon, smoked with with liquorice, turnip, crispy salsify and Combawa citrus ouillon or fish fans might fancy the Brixham Dover sole, braised endives, green apple, celery and green anise emulsion. Desserts are pretty showy offerings in the shape of The White Millefeuille, Tahitian vanilla cream, Jasmine jelly and Voatsiperifery pepper foam or a chocolate souffle, Valhrona ''Guanaja'', honey, hojicha and cubeb ice cream.
Service is knowledgeable and super slick, and to complement the exquisite dishes there's an encyclopaedic wine list. The restaurant was the proud recipient of two Michelin stars in the 2020 edition of the Guide.
