Review on Oliu Restaurante
The Oliu Restaurante is located between Andratx and the lovely fishing village of Port d'Andratx in Mallorca. Occupying an original finca building which has been beautifully restored in an elegant contemporary design, highlighting a neutral palette with exposed brick walls, and tables smartly laid with crisp linen. Huge picture windows look out onto the garden and terrace with palm and olive trees and a pretty fountain, with a view of the mountains beyond.
Mallorcan Chef patron Joan Porcel Balaguer opened his restaurant in July 2013, and guests can watch him and his team preparing delicious Mediterranean dishes in the open-to-view kitchen. Produce is carefully sourced from trusted local suppliers showcasing dishes such as scallops with egg yolk truffles and almond cream or foie gras and figs with brioche presented with rosemary smoke amongst the starters. Other dishes worth considering are monkfish wrapped in bacon or for meat lovers there's slow cooked pig cheeks in an Asian soya sticky sauce served with accents of cauliflower. Artfully displayed desserts close the show with olive oil ice cream served with berries and almond cream in a half chocolate shell.
Service is efficient and friendly and the reasonably priced wine list focuses on Spain.
