Review on La Fortaleza at Cap Rocat
La Fortaleza is the fine dining restaurant located in the luxurious Cap Rocat hotel in the rugged and secluded resort of Calva Blava, just 15 minutes drive from Palma in Mallorca. An historic gem with beautiful views across the bay of Palma, this magnificent 19th century fortress was transformed by owner Antonio Obrador in 2010 into the magnificent property it is today, completely secluded by both land and sea.
The resplendence of the hotel permeates through to its equally richly appointed high-ceilinged restaurant, or when the weather is fine you can dine on their romantic terrace with the soothing sound of the fountains playing in the background. Chef Víctor García shows off his culinary magic in the form of two tasting menus, 'Un Paseo por Mallorca' and 'El Producto' using organic and locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant was awarded Best Hotel Food of the Year in 2012 by the Association of Balearic Gastronomic Critics.
There's an impressive wine list to accompany the food with its share of French veterans from world-renowned wineries such as Château Mouton Rothschild, and Château Petrus, as well as some modern young bloods.
