Review on etch. by Steven Edwards
Just a 10 minute walk from Hove station, etch. is the first restaurant from British chef Steven Edwards, winner of the 6th series of MasterChef: The Professionals in 2013, and who learned his craft in prestigious kitchens such as Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons and The Pass at South Lodge Hotel near Horsham.
A smart contemporary décor decked out in dark blue walls, it features a cosy mix of banquette booths and small tables set with chairs covered in bright orange upholstery. Art republic paintings adorn the walls and there's an open pass to watch all the action of the chefs at work.
Edwards offers a weekly changing choice of tasting menus making excellent use of the abundance of local produce, producing dishes with an innovative and modern influence. To accompany the food there's a carefully matched wine list. A relaxed ambience with well paced, attentive service adds to the whole package. The restaurant was delighted to be awarded three prestigious AA Rosettes in 2019.
