Review on Bocalto
A short walk from Plaça de Quadrado, Bocalto restaurant opened its doors in May 2016 in the rejuvenated Sa Gerreria neighbourhood of Palma's old town. Set opposite a colourful graffiti adorned wall, inside the restaurant is modern and stylish, flooded with lots of natural light. Comfy sofas are ideal for a pre-dinner drink before proceeding into the smartly decorated restaurant.
Heading up the kitchen is Seville chef Álvaro del Campo, who formerly graced notable kitchens such as Ferran Adrià's El Bulli and Forn de Sant Joan in Palma. Showcasing modern Mediterranean cuisine that fuses the traditional and contemporary with global influences.
Opt for a series of tapas style dishes or starters in the shape of enticing flavours like cod fritter with peppermint mayonnaise or veal steak tartar with Serrano ham julienne and green mustard ice cream. Main courses embrace pork cheek in a rich red wine sauce with parsnip purée or from the sea there's grilled sea bass with celeriac purée, pine nuts, sautéed spinach and Portobello mushrooms. Completing the picture are desserts such as chocolate fondant 'bombon' paired with bitter orange ice cream or three milk cake with caramel topping and fresh fruits.
Backing up the food is a wine list offering ample choice of local, national and international wines alongside snazzy cocktails
