Review on Marcus Innobar
The driving force behind Marcus Innobar which opened in Spring 2016 is talented chef Markus Vinicios, the son of Emilio Castrejón of the well regarded Palma restaurant Emilio Innobar. Occupying a prestigious position in the Marina Plaza building opposite Nassau Beach in the former fishing village of Portixol, it's just a couple of kilometres from the cathedral using the traffic-free promenade.
The restaurant has a gorgeous interior oozing style and modernity, there's different size porthole windows and chic wooden pillars and walls, smart contemporary chairs are set against polished wood tables. During summer months their terrace provides an idyllic setting for al fresco dining with beautiful views of the Bay of Palma.
Jennifer Flores holds sway in the kitchen having previously worked at Emilio Innobar, and she proposes a menu showcasing fusion cuisine with Asian and Mediterranean influences using fresh seasonal ingredients. Typical dishes that appear on the menu include the traditional Japanese dish of basashi de potro, finely cut horse meat served on a bamboo leaf or another popular starter is the ceviche de langoustines paired with avocado, tomato and fried banana slices on the side. Other dishes worth noting for fish fans is the bogavante, succulent lobster in a rich red sauce or maybe opt for the solomillo with rucola and parmesan cheese. To finish there's a delicious Japanese chocolate cake or the Salzburger nockeri, a famous Austrian sweet soufflé which requires up to thirty minutes preparation time.
The concise wine list focuses on Mallorcan labels together with some international offerings and there's also Brabante beer on tap.
