Hurley House is a stunning boutique hotel with a fine dining restaurant and pub, located on the plot of land that was once home to the run-down Red Lion. Set in the picturesque village of Hurley, two miles northwest of Maidenhead and handily placed opposite the Temple Golf Club, the building was built in just eighteen months at a cost of six million pounds.

Architects Spratley Studios together with interior designer Summer Williams have done a wonderful job, creating a unique and welcoming destination with luxurious furnishings throughout. Drinkers make a beeline for the stylish central bar with rustic furniture and comfy leather sofas arranged around the wood burning stove.

At the heart of the hotel is their candle-lit restaurant with its wood-panelled walls, smart green leather banquettes and tan leather chairs laid out on stone-flagged flooring. The kitchen draws the very best out of the local larder, while fish and seafood is delivered daily from Brixham. Diners can look forward to starters such as duck liver parfait served with Black Provence fig and toast or Cornish brown crab, ruby grapefruit, cucumber and smoked salmon tartare. Main courses embrace Balmoral Estate mallard, slow cooked leg, heritage carrots and hazelnut dressing and from the sea there's Brixham stone bass, brown shrimps, samphire and lemon butter. Desserts promise upmarket ideas like William pear terrine, white chocolate macadamia mousse and salted caramel ice cream or blackberry semifreddo, Prosecco jelly and white chocolate aero.

The wine list brings together some great wines from around the globe and there's also locally-brewed ales and artisan beers on offer. There are ten elegantly appointed bedrooms should you decide to stay and explore the area further.
