Review on Yama Momo
Yama Momo located on Lordship Lane in East Dulwich is operated by the same team who run the acclaimed Tsunami in Clapham. A smart contemporary Japanese restaurant with an open kitchen, it's decked out in neutral colours with chic black chairs set against pale wood tables. It's a dimly lit room enlivened by large abstract canvases decorating the walls.
The kitchen delivers modern Japanese cuisine designed for sharing, with ultra-fresh fish carefully sourced from sustainable suppliers, and other produce from trusted local farms to ensure the quality of their ingredients. There's a wide selection of dishes including sashimi and sushi rolls alongside appetizers like Snow crab shumai, steamed dumplings filled with Snow crab and prawns or chicken gyoza, pan fried parcels filled with chicken, cabbage and spring onion. Mains offer steamed sea bass with sake and soy ponzu or for meat lovers there's roast duck breast drizzled in hoisin miso on a bed of green beans.
To accompany the dishes there's a concise wine list, an extensive selection of Japanese whiskies, beers, sake and signature Japanese influenced cocktails designed by Nightjar Consultancy.
