Review on Hudsons at The Grand Hotel York
The Grand Hotel is York's first five star hotel, a Grade II listed building that once housed the iconic headquarters of the North Eastern Railway Company. Their showpiece restaurant awarded three prestigious AA Rosettes is Hudson's by Craig Atchinson, a formal dining room featuring a lovely herringbone parquet wood floor, where well-laid tables are set with vases filled with wild and foraged herbs.
The kitchen looks to impeccably sourced local ingredients for its tasting menus with the options of wine pairings. Artistically displayed dishes such as smoked cod roe, seaweed and sea buckthorn or roasted venison, beetroot, grilled lettuce and violet mustard are the order of the day, finishing with Yorkshire blackberries, Monty's apple and buttermilk.
